Investing in our communities

Opus Energy Gift winners

At Opus Energy we celebrated our 10th anniversary in 2012 by giving away a total of £10,000, which was split between 10 not-for-profit community groups.

The winners of the Opus Energy Gift competition are announced below. To enter, all the groups had to create a short video explaining how much money they could use and which specific project it would help towards. We received many videos from numerous charities requesting for funding.

These charities worked in a number of areas across Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire to help the community, ranging from children's charities to wellbeing projects and community initiatives. These videos were open to public vote throughout the competition up until a particular deadline. During this time, the charities did their best to spread the word and get as much public support as possible. Social media and networking were put to maximum use, and our site received plenty of votes from charity supporters keen to make a difference and help their chosen cause.

Once the deadline was up, the videos with the most number of votes were put in front of a judging panel who made the final decision. Needless to say, the winning charities were thrilled to win a share of the £10,000 and received their prizes with many thanks.
